Commencement and Convocation Ceremonies

Convocation
is the formal degree-conferring ceremony for the ɫɫÑо¿Ëù T.H. Chan School of Public Health, held at Agganis Arena. Dean Baccarelli will deliver remarks, along with a student speaker, a convocation speaker, and an alumni speaker. Graduates are individually presented with their degrees and will walk across the stage as diplomas are awarded.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, MPH ’01, former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will deliver the Convocation speech for the Class of 2026.

Commencement

Commencement is the ɫɫÑо¿Ëù University-wide ceremony and activities, open to graduates of all ɫɫÑо¿Ëù schools. The deans of each school introduce their graduates as a class, and President Garber confers degrees upon the class as a whole.

Graduation

Graduation is the awarding of your degree. This administrative process happens three times per academic year:

  • November, for students who complete their degree requirements in the summer term
  • March, for students who complete their degree requirements in the fall term
  • May, for students who complete their degree requirements in the spring term
